  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The Barca midfielder grimaced in pain following a challenge from Madrid's Federico Valverde just before half time. It soon became clear the 26-year-old could not continue, with the former Ajax man not hiding his devastation as he was taken off the field. Before Pedri replaced him, both sets of fans applauded the Netherlands international.

    While De Jong will be missed by Barcelona in the short-term this season, the Dutchman may be worried about whether or not he will be fit to play for his country in this year's European Championships – which start in less than two months' time.
