Devastating injury news for Barcelona as Gavi set to miss FIVE MONTHS following knee surgery

Barcelona have confirmed that midfielder Gavi could be out for up to five months after having knee surgery. The 21-year-old missed the best part of a year with a cruciate ligament tear in late 2023. Now, the Spaniard is set for more time on the sidelines as the meniscus issue in his right knee is more serious than first believed.

Injury troubles again for Gavi

Gavi returned from his serious knee injury just over a year ago but his luck is out once again. The youngster has not featured for Barca since August due to this injury, and now the Blaugrana, who reportedly hoped he didn't need surgery, expect he won't be back fit until early 2026.

The club tweeted: "First team player Pablo Paez Gavira 'Gavi' has had an arthroscopy to resolve a medial meniscus injury, which was sutured to preserve the meniscus. Recovery time is estimated at around 4-5 months."

Gavi in World Cup race

The Barcelona academy product has become a more prominent player for both club and country since his breakthrough in 2021. But with this injury blow, he may be in a race against time to be fit and in form for next year's World Cup.
